Instructor Biography

JOHN EASH

John Eash is a licensed Architect and an Energy Specialist at the California Energy Commission since 1994. Prior to that, he was owner of an architectural firm established in 1983. During that time John designed more than 125 buildings in 16 categories (Residential and Commercial). In 1985 John was also a subcontractor to the Energy Commission as a monitor of building departments for compliance with the energy Standards. Since 1985, John has taught the Energy Efficiency Standards for Residential and Nonresidential Buildings (Standards) to more than 4,000 building department personnel.

At the Energy Commission, John has:

  • helped the City of Irvine develop its energy efficiency program "IQ+;"
  • developed and managed many programs and contracts;
  • developed, co-directed, co-produced and appeared in the Online Training Series in cooperation with Steve Easley and Associates, iShow.com, and D&R international;
  • developed the ACES Awards program for building departments;
  • been editor of the Blueprint Division newsletter;
  • investigated numerous Standards complaints;
  • been on several radio and television talk shows as an energy expert;
  • been a core faculty member of the CALBO's California Training Institute (CTI);
  • performed other duties.
